Abitibi is a regional county municipality (RCM), with Amos as its capital and most populous city.
The Abitibi MRC comprises seventeen municipalities (one city, twelve municipalities, three townships and one parish). The Pikogan Indian Reserve is also located within the MRC, but is not legally part of it.
